Dorm Room Trash Compactor

Problem

When walking past our overflowing dorm trash rooms, we saw a need for reduced volume in trash. Speaking with maintenance confirmed the problem, so we sought out to create a product that did that.

Solution

Created a trash bin lid that has a magnetically attached trash compressor. The push plate is magnetically attached to the lid, allowing for easy compacting for the user. The reduction in trash volume resulted in less trips to the trash room and less overflow management for maintenance.

Stainless Steel was chosen for the bottom of the push plate, due to it's corrosion and odor resistance
